Media relations is Emma’s main area of responsibility at ILGA-Europe. She liaises with journalists on behalf of the organisation, both reacting to breaking news stories and proactively publicising ILGA-Europe's equality work and major events.
She supports the work of the office’s policy and programmes team and promotes ILGA-Europe publications such as the annual Rainbow Europe package. Within the Rainbow Europe project, Emma has specific responsibility for the Annual Review; co-ordinating the ILGA-Europe editorial team, liaising with national experts to draft and edit country chapters/recommendations. In addition to this, she is a co-editor of ILGA-Europe's printed magazine, Destination>>Equality.
Emma joined the ILGA-Europe team in November 2014. She moved to Brussels from Budapest where she had been working with PILnet: the Global Network for Public Interest Law. Before that, Emma was based in her native Ireland where she worked in a variety of communications and legal research roles with The Free Legal Advice Centres (FLAC), The Refugee Appeals Tribunal and the Washington Ireland Program for Service and Leadership. She completed a BA in Economics, Politics and Law at Dublin City University and holds an LLM in Human Rights and Criminal Justice from Queens University Belfast.
