NELFA delivered on 24 September, in Helsinki, Finland, a public petition on behalf of NELFA’s 21 national member associations asking for true freedom of movement for LGBT parents and their children in the European Union.
Today on 17 May the EU’s Agency for Fundamental Rights presented the results of the largest LGBT Survey of its kind in the world. 93,000 lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people from the 27 EU Member States and Croatia responded and shared their experiences of discrimination, harassment and violence.
Today the European Parliament endorsed Tonio Borg as the next EU Commissioner for Health.

Today at 17:00 members of the European Parliament Sophie In’t Veld (ALDE), Franziska Brantner (The Greens/EFA) and a coalition of seven civil society organisations are hosting a press conference regarding the nomination of Tonio Borg as the new EU health Commissioner.
The EU has thrown in the towel about protecting discriminated groups, including lesbian, gay and bisexual people, persons with disabilities, religious minorities, youth and older people. A coalition of European equality and anti-discrimination NGOs  now calls on the European Commission and the Danish Presidency of the EU to urgently take up this issue.
On 12 October 2011, the European Commission issued its annual Enlargement Strategy and Progress Reports on EU accession and pre-accession countries.
