Maria’s main responsibilities concern the development and implementation of human resources policies and procedures that are aligned with the strategic goals of the organisation. She’s in charge of legal compliance, people follow up as well as well-being. She further insures the running of the office's day-to-day operations and participates in major events.
Prior to ILGA-Europe, Maria worked for Médecins sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) for 10 years. She was a program management team member as Human Resources Officer covering countries in Africa, Europe, and Latin America. She holds a BA in Political Science and Sociology by the University of Stirling, a MSc in International Humanitarian Aid by the Catholic University of Louvain, and a MSc in HR management by ICHEC Brussels Management School.
Maria is Portuguese and has lived in countries such as Burundi, Burkina Faso, Chad, Italy, UK, USA and Belgium since 2010.
Maria started with ILGA-Europe in February 2015.
