The Committee of Ministers adopted a recommendation to member States on the promotion of human rights of older persons on 19 February 2014.
The principles of this new Recommendation (Recommendation CM/Rec(2014)2) are illustrated with examples of good practices, provided by member States or by observers. There are only a few references references to sexual orientation in the recommendation, but some important elements are worth highlighting:
- Part 2 on non-discrimination, point 8 on multiple discrimination (sexual orientation appears in the explanatory memorandum)
- Part 3 on autonomy, point 11 on sexual intimacy
- Part 6 on care, point 32 on confidentiality
