Third consultation on the strategic plan of ILGA-Europe 2011-2013
ILGA-Europe embarked on the process of developing its next strategic plan (2011-2013) in March. Building on the very constructive and useful consultations carried out in the spring, we are now launching the third phase of membership consultation to invite comment on draft strategic objectives prepared on the basis of input received so far by member organisations, board and staff.

Job opportunity with ILGA-Europe - Financial and Administrative Officer
ILGA-Europe has grown significantly in the past 10 years and we now require a Financial and Administrative Officer to be responsible for financial monitoring and reporting of our project partners in Russian-speaking countries, to assist with running an efficient office and to maintain sound administrative systems.

New comprehensive anti-discrimination law in Montenegro
On 27 July 2010, the Parliament of Montenegro with a large majority (67 votes for, 6 votes against and 4 abstained) adopted all inclusive anti-discrimination law which bans discrimination in on the grounds of various characteristics, including sexual orientation and gender identity.

Three new calls for tender - The European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights
The European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) has issued three calls for tender, which ILGA-Europe would like to promote as they all are related to the work of ILGA-Europe.

Homophobia on a raise in Italy
This month Arcigay, Italian LGBT organisation and member of ILGA-Europe, issued a letter to the international community highlighting raising homophobia in the country.

Sweden - sterilization of transgender people 'a dark chapter' says Prime Minister Reinfeldt
The leaders of Sweden’s seven main parties have expressed support for an amendment to legislation forcing transgender people who wants their gender recognised to undergo compulsory sterilization and, if married, to secure a divorce from their partner.

Germany’s Constitutional Court: Same-sex couples have equal inheritance rights
Germany’s Constitutional Court ruled that same-sex couples who have formally registered their partnerships are entitled to the same inheritance rights as married couples.

Ireland: same-sex couples call for full equality
On 22 August 2010 more than 3000 people took part in a demonstration in Dublin. They demonstrated to highlight shortcomings in the new civil partnership legislation compared to full marriage equality. The Irish campaign group LGBT Noise organised the demonstration.

French government announces call for proposals to support LGBTI groups
In the framework of the fund “Human Rights, Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity”, France Coopération Internationale (FCI) launches a call for proposals in order to finance projects
- Aiming at the fight against repressive legislations and/or the penalization of relationships between people of the same sex or
- Aiming at the fight for the freedom of speech and association on these themes.

16-25 September 2010, the International Queer Culture Festival takes place in St. Petersburg, Russia, with the slogan The Art of Being Yourself in Russia. This year the festival got prominent international and national support, and the organisers are hoping for another successful festival.

Job vacancy with Amnesty International - Thematic Researcher - Discrimination in Europe
Amnesty International needs a researcher as part of the International Secretariat to take the lead responsibility for initiating strategy and a programme of human rights research and action on discrimination in Europe and Central Asia, by providing thematic expertise, research skills and sound political judgement. Visible Lives – a study of the lives of older LGBT people in Ireland
Visible Lives is a study to identify the experiences and needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people in Ireland who are aged 55 and over. The findings from this study will help to develop policies and improve services for the over-55 LGBT in Ireland.
