Facing Facts! - Call to Action for Civil Society Organisations working against hate crime

About the project...
Every day hundreds of organisations in Europe work to increase awareness of hate crime through monitoring activities, producing statistic, publishing reports and supporting victims. Despite their strong commitment, several difficulties still prevent the best implementation of their work: the low level of attention shown by governments and local authorities on this matter and, furthermore, the existing lack of comparable data.
In order to enhance civil society organisations’ work and challenge governments and institutions to implement anti-discrimination measures, Facing Facts! aims to standardise criteria on collecting hate crime data.
For this purpose we are asking international, national and local organisations involved in combating and monitoring hate incidents and crimes to submit information about their data gathering methods and standards.
A clear mapping of the extent to which data gathering is currently undertaken by state actors and NGOs is needed in order to classify different methodologies, identify best practices and create guidelines for future use.
Facing Facts! is coordinated by CEJI / a Jewish Contribution to an Inclusive Europe and is a two years project financed by the European Commission.
What can you do...
You can help by filling out the on-line questionnaire. The questionnaire is composed of 33 questions, divided into 5 sections. It will take less than 15 minutes to complete.
Respondents will also get the opportunity to be deeper involved into the project’s development that will produce a training programme in monitoring and recording hate crime.
