<p>The Assembly's Equality and Non-Discrimination Committee conducted a hearing on the rights of LGBT people, which was addressed by the newly appointed General Rapporteur, Håkon Haugli of Norway, the Deputy Secretary-General of the Council of Europe, ILGA-Europe's Executive Director, and a member of the UK's Permanent Representation. </p>

<p>Today, the first ever EU-wide (including Croatia) online LGBT Survey is launched. ILGA-Europe encourages all individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or trans to take part in this important Survey. </p>

<i>Statement from ILGA-Europe and PICUM:</i><br />Today is the International Women’s Day. ILGA-Europe and PICUM are using this day as an opportunity to call for a proper gender mainstreaming in the current negotiations of important European Union policies. We are calling for the EU institutions to include and mainstream gender in all its forms in all its adoption of new legislation and all legislation should automatically reflect all discrimination grounds. </p>

<p>Yesterday, the United Nation's Human Rights Council in Geneva held the first-ever formal UN inter-governmental debate on violence and discrimination against LGBT people.
