Events at the OSCE
ILGA-Europe organises or participates in side-events on LGBT rights at the OSCE Human Dimension and Implementation Meetings (HDIM). Find more information on the various events in the OSCE in this section.
In the last years, we addressed a range of related issues such as the situation of LGBT people in Eastern Europe, multiple identities and discrimination, or the role of religion in promoting tolerance and human rights of LGBT people. We also attend thematic conferences and supplementary Human Dimension Meetings, where we occasionally organise specific side-events.
ILGA-Europe at the Human Dimension Implementation Meeting 2011
ILGA-Europe made together with partner organisations interventions at the OSCE Human Dimension Implementation Meeting 2011 in Warsaw from the 26 September to 7 October. Moreover ILGA-Europe also organised a side event on combating hate crimes.
Human Dimension Implementation Meeting 2009: statements ILGA-Europe and LGBT rights defenders
In 2009, ILGA-Europe and other Human Rights NGOs kept on advocating within the OSCE institutions in order to promote the explicit recognition of the rights of LGBT people among human rights.
New steps achieved in support to LGBT Human Rights within OSCE institutions
For the first time in 11 years, the OSCE will hold a Summit of Heads of State or Government in December 2010. As a preparation to this event, which is due to take place in Astana, Kazakhstan, the organisation is undergoing a comprehensive review conference on all the commitments made by participating States in all the dimensions of its competence (human, politico-military, and economic and environment dimensions).
Highlevel conference in Kazakhstan - Raising the visibility at the OSCE of hate crime and discrimination against LGBT
On 29 and 30 June 2010, ILGA-Europe and its partners participated to the first OSCE high-level conference on tolerance and non-discrimination in three years held in Astana, Kazakhstan.
