Funding
The total budget for the Year 2007 is of EUR 15 million. The budget for national, local and regional activities is of EUR 7.6 million.
It should be noted that activities at the national level will be co-funded by the Commission, i.e. the EU will finance projects up to 50%. Therefore, Member States have to commit to funding or to finding sources of funding for the other 50% of activities for these activities to take place (Article 7, par.2 and Annex II).
Allocation of funds to each Member State will be based on the number of votes they have at the Council; larger states will thus have more funds than smaller ones. The smaller states will receive at least €120,000; the maximum funding allocated is €624,000.These amounts need to be matched by funding at the national level.
The money available for activities at national level is relatively limited; we should keep this in mind when proposing activities to be done during the Year 2007 (e.g. looking at joint actions with other anti-discrimination NGOs when/where appropriate). We should also keep in mind that some Member States may decide not take a portion of the funds available to them if they do not find the funds to match the funding from the Commission.
