ILGA-Europe's Priorities for the European Year of Equal Opportunities
ILGA-Europe sees 2007 as an opportunity to advance equality and human rights and to make Europe a safe place for LGBT people to be who they are, and to make key advances in terms of rights.
Key Priorities
ILGA-Europe wants to see following advances being made and achieved during 2007:
- to extend protection against discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation to social protection (including social security and healthcare), social advantages, education, access to goods and services, including housing
- to achieve full recognition of same-sexunions registered in one EU member states by all other members states
- to give visibility to LGBT people and challenge their invisibility and exclusion in society by involving them in actions and decision-making at national and European level.
What do the 4 “Rs” (Rights, representation, respect, and recognition) mean for us?
Activities of the Year are organised around four themes. Here is what these themes mean for LGBT people. Below we will also provide translations of this particular document into various EU languages.
ILGA-Europe cannot accept responsibility for accuracy and precision of the translations as all documents were translated by our volunteers and they are not official ILGA-Europe documents and translated for information purpose as well as to reach wider audiences.
