NGO round tables (led by ENAR)

National members of the European Network against Racism (ENAR) are organising national round table discussions about the European Year 2007 between June and October 2006.

Two of the aims of these half-day round tables are to:

  • Inform ENAR's members and civil society organisations more generally on the European Year and formulate proposals of activities
  • Give an opportunity to NGOs working on different grounds of discrimination to network and to think about joint proposals

The results of the round tables will be sent to the European Commission to help the Commission to evaluate the national programmes submitted by the national bodies. The Commission will be in a position to compare the national programmes with national priorities as defined by civil society and NGOs.

A list of ILGA-Europe’s EU Network members was shared with ENAR’s national members to facilitate networking at national level and exchange during the round table discussions.

ILGA-Europe welcomes ENAR’s initiative to organise round tables at national level. These events will provide national organisations an opportunity to network with other NGOs working on non-discrimination and human rights, to encourage joint action during the Year and work on multiple discrimination.
