Project summary

This project is a comprehensive review of Irish literature, policy and documentation on the handling of transphobia* incidents in an Irish context. It assesses whether methods have been used to document and handle such incidences at governmental and non-governmental levels. The review further looks to European models of policy and best practice and contextualises them to the Irish social, cultural and economic climate. The resulting document provides recommendations to inform policy proposals for documenting transphobic incidents, which will be launched formally. *Transphobia is defined here as a human rights violation against a person because of their apparent gender identity and expression.
