Joseph Healy

Green Party of England & Wales

As an openly gay man and also someone living with HIV, I am actively engaged in fighting for the rights of the LGBTIQ community in London and also for HIV+ people across Europe. I was involved in the early gay rights movement in the Irish Republic in the late 70s and an activist for HIV+ people in London during the 90s. Also active in the European Green Party's LGBT Working Group and have played an active part in supporting the work of the Green MEPs around equality issues and health for the LGBTIQ and HIV+ communities.

One of my main issues here in London and the UK is the refusal to offer asylum and refugee status to those LGBTIQ people fleeing repressive regimes such as Iran. I have also been active in seeking the support of the Greens and others in London and the UK for LGBTIQ rights in Eastern Europe and for supporting Pride marches and conferences there.
