Be Bothered – European Parliament 2009-2014
UPDATE! 200 out of 766 Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) have so far signed the Be Bothered! Pledge, which is more than 26% of the MEPs.
ILGA-Europe's 'Be Bothered' campaign aims to mobilise support for human rights among the Members of the European Parliament. The campaign kicked off during the elections for the European Parliament in 2009, and ILGA-Europe keeps on promoting a human rights friendly European Parliament.

This EU map provides information on how many elected MEPs and candidates during the European Parliament elections 2009 from each EU Member States already signed ILGA-Europe's European Parliament Elections Pledge. If you want to see the MEPs and candidates names, please firstly click on a specific country and secondly click on information sign which will lead to a list of MEPs and candidates from that country who signed the Pledge.
In the context of the European Parliament elections, ILGA-Europe produced a ten-point election pledge to be signed by candidates. The new European Parliament is now elected, but the Pledge is still open to elected MEPs to sign.
January 2012 marks the mid-term of the current European Parliament and that is why ILGA-Europe is revisiting Be Bothered! campaign by organising the Be Bothered! event at the European Parliament on 24 & 25 January 2012 for the Members of the European Parliament.
Between 4 and 7 June 2009, the citizens of the European Union elected a new European Parliament. ILGA-Europe's 'Be Bothered' campaign aimed to mobilise support for human rights among the next European Parliament's candidates and to energise its member organisations and individuals across Europe to vote.
On the election day we managed to get support of 1/5 of all elected MEPs! But our Pledge stays open to other MEPs to sign it and we hope to see many more signatures!
