Background - Process leading to Commission's proposal
The road to the adoption of a proposed directive by the European Commission on 2 July 2008 started a couple of years ago.
Anti-discrimination poster (January, 2008)
The poster provides examples of discrimination LGB people face in Europe because of the lack of legal protection and calls on the European and national authorities to support and adopt the anti-discrimination directive. Read more about the campaign here.
Advocacy tool kit - European Youth Foundation
This toolkit aims at providing youth organisations with basic information on the content of the proposal put forward by the European Commission, on the work undertaken so far by the YFJ together with other European anti-discrimination networks and with some ideas and examples on how to get further involved in the process.
Amnesty International: sign petition
Amnesty International launched a campaign on the EU’s Anti-Discrimination Directive.
The campaign will target the German government, which is currently blocking the adoption of the directive, ahead of the next Employment and Social Affairs Council (EPSCO) on 7 June 2010.
ILGA-Europe's Annual Conference 2008 Declaration on Germany's resistance of the anti-discrimination directive
This declaration was adopted by the delegates to the 12th Annual Conference of ILGA-Europe during the final plenary session of the conference on 2 November 2008 in Vienna, Austria. The conference brought together over 220 representatives from lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender organizations from 37 countries.
