ILGA-Europe invited to Amsterdam Pride 2012
ILGA-Europe was invited to take part in the Dutch government's events during the Amsterdam Pride on 4. August 2012.
The government's boat on the canal pride focussed on the worldwide situation of LGBT people.
Apart from ILGA-Europe, many representatives of LGBT organisations from Central and Eastern Europe, and representatives of human rights organisations, as well as foreign ambassadors, were invited to take part in the government event.
The Dutch Minister of LGBT Affairs, Marja Van Bijsterveldt stressed the Dutch commitment to improving the position of LGBT people in the Netherlands and elsewhere in the world.
- The Netherlands plays a leading role in the campaign for the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people worldwide and in Europe and ILGA-Europe is grateful for the support and we are looking forward to continuing the fruitful cooperation with the Dutch government, says Martin K.I. Christensen, co-chair of ILGA-Europe, who was present at the event.
