The ban on the gay pride parade is a complete capitulation of the state, the event organizers said Thursday, adding they would turn to the Constitutional Court.

Recalling that the Constitutional Court declared the banning of the 2009 parade unconstitutional, the organizers told a new conference they would stick to the legal framework and continue promoting the rights of the LGBT community and organize a new parade next year.
"This is a complete capitulation of the state. Pride is not a circus which will leave town, we are staying here and we will be here next year," said Goran Miletic, announcing that at 10 am on Saturday, the day when the walk was set to take place, Pride would be held "behind closed doors" at the Media Center.

He said the organizers would respect the ban regardless of how unconstitutional it was.

Miletic added that the government had proven with Wednesday's decision that it did not respect the Constitution or minority groups, and expressed skepticism that Ivica Dacic's cabinet would get other things done when it was unable to protect the rights of a minority community.

After the opening of the controversial "Ecce homo" exhibit on Wednesday night, he said the only victories were the fact the police had done their job and many people had come to see the exhibit.
"This is proof the police can do their job if the politicians do not stand in their way," said Miletic.

The organizers said that in the coming period, they would insist on what the police would do by next October to eliminate the factors which caused another pride parade to be banned, and would request information on the number of criminal charges filed.
