Finland's minister for culture and sports, Paavo Arhinmäki, waved a rainbow flag on Saturday August 17th in Moscow in the audience of women's high jump final at the athletics Worlds Championships while Sweden's Emma Green Tregaro (famous for painting her nails in rainbow colours for the qualification round) was jumping. Arhinmäki says he raised the anti-gay law issue with the Russian sports minister on Saturday. According to Arhinmäki, lgbti oppression is part of the wider human rights problems in Russia, and long-term solutions have to be found to improve the human rights situation in Russia.
