Minsk Gay Pride 2012 will take place from 5-11 October
Activities of the Minsk Gay Pride 2012 under the slogan "The Right to be myself!" will be held from 5 October, and like last year, concluded on 11 October, the Global Coming Out Day.
The organizers have already registered a request for permission of the Pride march in support of tolerance towards homosexuals scheduled for 11 October in Minsk.
"The Eighth Minsk Gay Pride starts this week. This year we will talk again about the right to be ourselves: we publicly condemn physical violence and psychological pressure on members of LGBT community and encourage Belarusian society and the government to be more tolerant. Until now, our organization was not registered and we were not allowed to hold any legal march in Minsk," said Sergey Androsenko, chairman of the organizing committee of the Minsk Gay Pride 2012.
The program of the Minsk Gay Pride 2012 includes 15 events. Among them is the International interdisciplinary scientific conference "Queer Sexuality: Power, Policy and Practice." It will gather experts from Belarus, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, Sweden, Poland, Latvia and other European countries.
"The Chronicles of discrimination and oppression of the LGBT community in Belarus in 2008-2012" which reveal the breadth of homophobic aggression and discrimination in Belarus will be presented as part of the Pride program.
A free concert of Belarusian pop stars in support of tolerance towards the LGBT community will take place on 10 October.
