Events of the Minsk Gay Pride 2011 were postponed to a later date. The Organizing Committee of the Minsk Pride and the board of LGBT human rights project "GayBelarus" made this decision after discussion and reflection on August 16, 2011.

According to the organizers, the Minsk Pride is "postponed due to the fact that the organizing committee as a result of external challenges and internal processes is unable to organize a quality forum earlier, as scheduled."

Minsk Gay Pride postponed for a period of 11-25 October, 2011. A public action will be held on October 22. Minsk Gay Pride will begin on October 11 - International Coming Out Day.

"We ask you to forgive us for the difficulties and challenges that you may have in connection with the postponed Minsk Gay Pride, but we hope that you will come to Minsk in new terms," says press release from the organizers.

"Your participation in the organization and support of the Minsk Pride is extremely important for us, for the Belarusian LGBT community and for the development of the human rights movement in Belarus," concludes press release.
