1. Photography Exhibition on LGBT Life in Albania. The exhibition will be inaugurated on May 17 at Tirana Express gallery in Tirana. The photographs will reflect various aspects of LGBT life in Albania from the relationships between gay couples to the hardship of the life of many transgender persons. The exhibition will also include videos on LGBT activism in the last three years, a short movie on LGBTs by students of the Academy of Arts, and an awareness raising video spot on LGBT rights.
2. Rock against Homophobia. The concert will take place on May 17 at Tirana Express upon the launching of the Photography Exhibition. Several Albanian young rock bands that support LGBT rights and some of the best Albanian DJs will play at this concert.
3. Presentation of the Documentary Film on LGBT Life in Albania. This activity will take place in Vlora and will be organized in cooperation with our partner organization, Pro LGBT Albania, and with the Italian Consulate in Vlora. The documentary film will be followed by a briefing of the media on LGBT rights and life.
4. Presentations on LGBT Rights at Public and Private Universities. Leading LGBT activists will make presentations at select faculties of Tirana University and several private universities in Tirana. We are currently exploring the opportunity to make such presentation at universities in the regions outside Tirana.
5. Human Library. On May 18 and 19, we will organize this event that includes setting up an information point at the park around the lake in Tirana. Visitors at this info point will get information about homosexuality and homophobia. They can also meet members of the LGBT community that are prepared to address questions by the visitors and discuss with them their concerns and ideas. If need be, we will arrange for security services to ensure that this event goes as planned.
6. Public Awareness Raising Activities. During the week of May 14 – 18, LGBT activists will distribute leaflets and posters in Tirana in support of LGBT rights. On May 17, we will raise a large bunch of balloons in front of the Pyramid next to the boulevard “Skenderbeu” carrying a love message by members of the LGBT community.
7. TV Spot with Public Figures. We will produce and broadcast in the main TV stations a 30-second TV spot in support of LGBT rights featuring Albanian public figures (activists, artists, journalists) that support LGBT rights in Albania.
