Discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation is prohibited in areas of health care, education, access to good and services and housing.<br />
<b class="Apple-style-span">Legal gender recognition of trans people</b><br />
The Netherlands has administrative procedures to obtain legal gender recognition - however only after compulsory sterilisation.<br />
<b class="Apple-style-span">Partnership recognition</b><br />
In The Netherlands same-sex couples are able to marry or enter into a registered partnership. Cohabitating same-sex couples almost have the same rights as cohabitating different sex couples.<br />
<b class="Apple-style-span">Parenting rights</b><br />
Same-sex couples are eligible to jointly apply for a child adoption and each other’s biological children.<br />
Medically assisted insemination is available to lesbian couples.<br />
<b class="Apple-style-span">Criminal law on hate speech/crime</b><br />
Laws on hate and violence do not explicitly refer to sexual orientation or gender identity. However public prosecutors can demand a 100% higher sentence when violence has a discriminatory motive against LGBT people.<br />

Pride events have taken place with authorisation.<br />

The age of consent is equal for all sexual acts.<br />
