Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Issues in Development
A Study of Swedish policy and administration of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender issues in international development cooperation.
The study was conducted during 2005 and consists of a desk study of Swedish policy and administration of LGBT issues at Sida (Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency) and Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs. Case studies of the life situation of LGBT persons and organsations working with LGBT rights, health and visibility were made in South Africa, Moldova and India.
The study concludes that issues in regards to sexual orientation and gender identity in development should be fully included in a framework of human rights and that policy and administration of LGBT issues should be situated within a gender equality and social equity discourse. If you have comments, questions or suggestions don't hesitate to contact the authors or Sida.
