Interregional Public Movement the Russian LGBT-Network, the largest LGBT organization in Russia, appealed to the General Prosecutor’s Office asking to initiate criminal proceedings against businessman and public person German Sterligov who calls for physical extermination of homosexual people.

LGBT-activists have also asked prosecutors to recognize the Old Testament book of Leviticus as extremist literature, as it incites hatred towards homosexual people, and it was the one to which Sterligov was referring to during the radio show on “Echo Moskvi” where he made the homophobic statement.

According to the chairman of the Russian LGBT-Network Igor Kochetkov, no religious feelings or views can justify calls for murder. “The faithful have a right to express their religious views until it violates other people’s rights and freedoms including the initial one – the right to life”, - he added.

On August 14 of this year, during the program “Culture shock” on “Echo Moskvi”, in his answer to the program host Ksenia Larina, who asked “what can be done” and “what to do with atheists and homosexuals,” Sterligov said: “It is written by the Apostle Paul: “Let there be blood on their heads.” It is said about sodomites.” Larina clarified: “That means to kill?” Sterligov answered, “Yes. Definitely.”

Coordinator of LGBT-ministry Nuntiare et Recreare Valery Sozaev suggested to Sterligov “to go over the Bible in order to properly quote the biblical text.” Valery Sozaev explained to Gaynews.RU that Apostle Paul has never said those words. He added that: “This idea is contained in the Old Testament Book of Leviticus. And by the way all serious researches of the Bible have lately said that this place does not refer to homosexuals.”

In the same show Sterligov said that he “would not employ faggots under any circumstances”. He added, ”If there is a law forcing me to employ them, I will immediately leave this country”, explaining that for him “the law of God is prior to human law”.
