LGBT of St. Petersburg Will not Be Bullied!

The St. Petersburg LGBT organization Vykhod (Coming Out) has successfully carried out Rainbow Flashmob for the International Day against Homophobia and Transphobia.
On May 16, over 150 gathered together in St. Petersburg to let colorful balloons fly in the sky, symbolizing their dream of a world free of hate and homophobia. Participants of the flashmob also distributed flyers to the passerby, informing people that homosexuality is not a disease.
Rainbow Flashmob took place despite the numerous threats received by organizers from ultra right groups, which have been planning disruption of the event and an attack on its participants in the course of the last month.
“By coming to the event, people demonstrate that they will not be bullied. Each time, the LGBT community of St. Petersburg becomes more and more self confident in showing itself. I would like to specially note that such events also help the city become freer and happier. We express the wish of all citizens to build a society free of prejudice, where human dignity of everyone is respected,” says Igor Kochetkov, director of LGBT organization Vykhod (Coming Out).
Today and tomorrow, the Rainbow Flashmob is taking place in dozens of cities of Russia and the world.
