March of support for Registered Partnership Act in Poland

The first march of lesbians, gays and friends in Wrocław.

We are going to express our support for a Registered Partnership Act in
Poland and to mark
our presence in the streets of Wrocław. The marching rhythm of the
demonstration will be given by the drum ensemble Samba RoR.

Come to Wrocław on October 24! We set off from University Square ( Plac
Uniwersytecki) at 2 p.m. near the statue of a fencing athlete.

March Manifesto

Come along with us! Join the Equality March of Wrocław! Demonstrate that
you
support the initiative of introducing the *Registered Partnerships Act*!

Article 32 of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland states:

1. All persons shall be equal before the law. All persons shall have the
right to equal treatment by public authorities.
2. No one shall be discriminated against in political, social or economic
life for any reason whatsoever.

Thus according to the Constitution all citizens of Poland have the same
rights and duties.

However, almost 3 million Poles - lesbians, gays, and bisexuals - do not
receive equal treatment from the State. Individuals living in same sex
unions still! cannot enjoy the same rights that heterosexual couples do.

As citizens, we Polish lesbians, gays, and bisexuals face the same
obligations as heterosexual individuals do, while being treated by the
State
as second grade citizens.

That is why we demand the "Registered Partnerships Act", which will
equalize
the status of same sex unions with that of heterosexual ones.

A few months ago there was established an Initiative Group for partnership
unions, which repeatedly invited Polish Prime Minister and members of the
Cabinet to co-operate. However, so far there has been no response.

Thus we call for the current government's action aimed at legal regulation
of extramarital unions which will include lesbians, gays, and bisexuals so
that regardless of sexual orientation each citizen would become equal in
law!

The March is a part of the "Lesbians, gays and friends Festival" - 22 - 25
October 2009 in Wrocław.
