Lithuania is in the spotlight of the European Parliament again as legislative amendments has been tabled in the Autumn of 2010, and is now up for discussion in the Lithuanian Parliament. The proposed amendments will give authority to prosecute on an extremely wide variety of actions and activities, such as…
- campaigning on human rights issues relating to sexual orientation and gender identity,
- providing sexual health information to LGBT people or the organisation of gay film festivals,
- organising and/or attending Pride events.
The legislative amendments are coming after the introduction of the homophobic Law on the protection of minors against the detrimental effect of public information in March 2010. Read more here.
However it is not only the European Parliament that is concerned about the continuously homophobic legal situation in Lithuania.
