A homosexual foreigner is murdered in Riga

Criminal Police officers discovered a 58-year-old German and Russian citizen murdered, LETA was informed by the National Police of Riga Region Administration spokesman Tom Sadovskis. Deceased was a person of non-traditional sexual orientation, which likely was the reason for his murder.
On 18th of July in Riga, in an apartment on Jurmalas gatve, the man was found dead with obvious signs of violence. Police officers have concluded that the foreigner was killed in his apartment on July 14th. There were valuable items stolen, as well as his credit card, which had been used to withdraw the money.
A man born in 1988, previously tried drug abuser, was arrested in suspicion of this crime.
During the investigation police found that the killed was a person of non-traditional sexual orientation, who met a young man and invited him home. Foreigner started to harass the acquired acquaintance which he did not like, so the young man attacked an apartment landlord with a knife. 20 beat and cut wounds were discovered on the deceased’s body.
After the murder the young man decided to take with him valuable things from the apartment
On the 2nd of September the court imposed arrest as a security measure. Criminal proceedings were initiated for murder in aggravating circumstances.
LETA already reported that a similar murder happened in 2007 when on the 10th of June in an apartment in Riga, Matisa iela, with dozens of stab and cut wounds a 47-year-old German citizen was found murdered. According to the information provided by the police, a German citizen was married to a Latvian citizen. He lived and worked in a Latvian construction firm. The German was also a person of non-traditional sexual orientation, and motives for the murder were similar to the crime committed this year.
This deceased also had his apartment in disorder and valuable things stolen. Police officers arrested a 24 years old man in suspicion of the murder.
