The Rainbow Mission Foundation - organizer of Budapest Pride - is pleased to have learned that, along with many other Embassies, the Slovakian Ambassador to Hungary has signed the public statement with which the embassies of 20 countryiess have declared their support for the Bratislava Gay March as well for the protection of general human rights.
We believe that it is a further example to us all that on behalf of the Slovakian government the Slovak Deputy Minister of Human and Minority Rights has also spoken out in support of the March and universal human rights.
We trust that the Embassy’s achievement will be only the first step in breaking their government’s silence around lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people - which we hope will be followed by similar steps in Hungarian public life as well. The 16th Budapest Pride Festival, which begins on the 11th of June, and the Gay Dignity March on the 18th of June, will provide the perfect opportunity for beginning this process.

As in previous years, our Foundation invites all public dignitaries, members of the Government, and leaders of all Parliamentary parties to the Opening of the Festival and the March. We trust that as a sign of their support for the equal rights of LGBT people, the Government of Hungary will be represented at the Festival Opening and at the March as well. We welcome all Hungarian citizens who are committed to human rights to our events.

We wish our Slovakian friends a peaceful and happy March!
