The Cultural Panorama was born in 1999, on initiative of the association «Co-operation Against Homophobia» and in collaboration with the «International Thessaloniki Film Festival»., It takes place each May in OLYMPION Mansion, in the center of the city (Aristotle Sq.). One of the first supporters of the festival was, and still remains, the German Institute “Goethe” in Thessaloniki. Today, the festival is also supported by the French Institute of Thessaloniki as well as the General Consulate of France in Thessaloniki and the Association for Gender and Sexuality.

The Cultural Panorama of Thessaloniki aims to bring forward issues with regard to the interests, needs and desires the difficulties of homosexual – bisexual – intersexual citizens (women and men), as well as that these people have to deal with because of a dominant homophobic feeling and an ideological and implemented social (and individually embodied) hostility. In order to achieve these objects, the Cultural Panorama supports the cultural expression, the social dialogue and the development of citizen’s depictions.

The «Thessaloniki LGBTI Cultural Panorama against Homophobia» includes:

  • the «Thessaloniki LGBTI Short Film Festival»,
  • tribute of LGBTI (long) films,
  • fine art events (art as well as photography exhibitions),
  • discussions (workshops, lectures, conferences).
