Discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation is prohibited in the areas of employment, and provision of goods and services.
Legal gender recognition of trans people
Finland has administrative procedures to obtain legal gender recognition - however only after compulsory sterilisation and compulsory divorce.
Partnership recognition
In Finland same-sex couples are able enter into a registered partnership.
Parenting rights
Same-sex couples are eligible to apply for second parent adoption of each other’s biological children.
Medically assisted insemination (fertility treatment) is available to lesbian couples.
Criminal law on hate speech/crime
Laws on hate and violence do not refer to sexual orientation or gender identity and do not recognise sexual orientation neither gender identity as aggravating factor.
Freedom of assembly/Pride events
Pride events have taken place with authorisation.
Criminal law on age of consent
The age of consent is equal for all sexual acts.
