Croatia’s capital will host the 10th annual LGBTIQ Zagreb Pride on 18 June, daily Vecernji List writes.
In their manifesto, the organisers of the jubilee meeting and parade say that the fight of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersexual persons is far from over.
"Our struggle and resistance to every form of fascism, nationalism, racism, chauvinism, heterosexism and violence is not over. Ahead of us is a decade (our next ten) of maturity, growth and new victories. The right to have our loves and our life unions recognised and defined by laws has not yet been realised, but that victory is also ahead of us."
The organisers call for "emancipated education" in schools and universities, where every child would have access to sex education free of prejudice, religion and "wizardry".
The parade – which will kick off from Zagreb’s Trg zrtava fasizma (victims of fascism square) and continue throughout the city toward Zrinjevac – is just one part of an event that will feature political, literary and other happenings.
The country’s President Ivo Josipovic, the government’s office for gender equality and the ombudsperson for gender equality Gordana Lukac Koritnik have all lent their support for the parade, daily Vecernji List writes.
