ILGA-Europe publishes its Memorandum to the Belgian Presidency of the EU

On 1 July 2010, the Presidency of the European Union is taken by Belgium for the next six months. Traditionally, ILGA-Europe presents its Memorandum to the EU Presidency identifying its expectations and setting challenges for the Presidency.
ILGA-Europe’s Five Points Call for Action:
- Positive leadership to ensure protection against discrimination

1.4 Transgender Equality
1.5 Gender-based Violence
- Proactive mainstreaming of equality in EU social policies
- Tackling homophobia, transphobia and discrimination in the frame of the EU freedom, security and justice policy
- Offering a higher degree of protection to LGBT asylum seekers in the Common European Asylum System
- Promoting LGBT rights in external relations
