ELENA Course - Vulnerable groups in the asylum procedure
It will take place in Leuven, Belgium from 15-17 April.
The aim of the training is to identify and examine the needs of vulnerable groups in a European and International legal framework. In addition the course will aim to have an in depth focus on a select number of topics including trafficked persons in a refugee context, those fleeing persecution on the grounds of sexual orientation/identity and gender identity, torture victims and the role of expert medical evidence as well as looking at protection, risk and relocation issues for women and their children.
It will be presented by a number of eminent academics and practitioners in the field of asylum including Adam Weiss, S. Chelvan, Eeva Nykänen and Kathryn Cronin.
The course is aimed at legal practitioners and advocates from across Europe who defend or who are interested in defending refugees and asylum seekers. The objective of the training is to provide practitioners with the legal tools to successfully represent the most vulnerable persons within the asylum procedure. The course will be conducted through English.
The course will be held in Leuven, Belgium, located 25 minutes away from Brussels. Leuven is a picturesque medieval town, home to one of the oldest Universities in the world and famous for its lively atmosphere.
It is expected that this course will be over-subscribed and places are limited, so we urge those interested to register as soon as possible.

This is a residential course and the fee covers seminar costs, materials, two nights accommodation and meals as per the programme.
