LONDON/23.09.08/TURAN: Two gays, who sought political asylum in UK, have been deported from this country during the past days, reported British media. Ugandan John Nyombi was deported on Friday evening. His friends said that he is hiding himself from police in Uganda.

Azerbaijani gay and artist Babakhan Badalov known as Babi was deported last Saturday by air flight London-Baku. He sought asylum in UK, because his sexual orientation and criticism of the ruling regime posed hazard to his life.

Gay activists claim that his deportation is contrary to British frontier service rules. The frontier service’s employee told Badalov: “We are sick and tired of you, go back to your country.”

Owing to the activists’ successful campaign, Azerbaijan Air Lines (AZAL) has refused to deport Badalov to Baku. But BMI air company deported Babi and gay activists urged to boycott BMI.

They also urged the government to revise policy regarding to homosexual refugees seeking refuge in UK.
