ILGA-Europe & IGLYO launch Report on Gay Youth at European Parliament
On 13 September 2006, ILGA-Europe and the International Gay Lesbian Youth Organisation (IGLYO), with the support of Ms. Sophie in’t Veld, MEP, Vice-Chair of the European Parliament’s Intergroup on Gay and Lesbian Rights, and Mr. Proinsias De Rossa, MEP, are officially launching their report on “Social exclusion of young lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in Europe” at the European Parliament.

ILGA-Europe launches Handbook on Pride Marches Observation
Today ILGA-Europe launches a new publication – a Handbook on Observations of Pride Marches. This Handbook is designed to help lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) organisations and those supporting their rights to organise a monitoring of human rights abuse occurring during Pride Marches in an objective and structured way. The Handbook is being launched in Zagreb where ILGA-Europe is organising training on observation of Pride Marches which coincides with the Zagreb Pride.

European policies needed to address widespread discrimination against young LGBT people
This week ILGA-Europe and IGLYO launch the results of a comprehensive survey on discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) young people. The Europe-wide study that looked at discrimination in different areas of life, clearly demonstrates the need for national and European actions targeting young LGBT people.

Cette semaine, ILGA-Europe et IGLYO rendent publics les résultats d’une vaste enquête sur la discrimination contre les jeunes lesbiennes, gais, bisexuel(le)s et transgenre (LGBT). Cette étude menée à l’échelle européenne s’est penché sur la discrimination dans diverses sphères de la vie des jeunes, et souligne clairement la nécessité d’avoir des politiques nationales et européennes pour répondre aux besoins des jeunes LGBT.

European Parliament’s Resolution on racism and homophobia is welcome, timely and needed
On 15 June 2006, the European Parliament adopted a resolution on the increase of racist and homophobic violence in Europe. ILGA-Europe welcomes this resolution and joins the European Parliament’s call to the Finnish presidency to intensify work on the 2001 Council Framework Decision on combating racism and xenophobia and to explicitly extent it to homophobic, anti-Semitic, Islamophobic and other types of offences motivated by phobia or hatred based on ethnicity, race, sexual orientation, religion or other irrational grounds.
