Members of AMPGIL (Asociación de Padres y Madres de Gais y Lesbianas) are pleased that the law in Spain now allows our gay and lesbian sons and daughters to marry and adopt children, as do our straight children. This is progress, but that does not blind us to the fact that there is still a long road we must travel before society at large recognizes that whether a child is gay, lesbian or bisexual, the family and our school system must assure every child’s full development as a person.

Unfortunately, many families still consider homosexuality as something that happens to others, “not to us.” If that erroneous belief is not corrected, many children will continue to lack essential support from their families at a time when they most need it. This and related topics will be the focus of our Fourth Seminary.
