The Statement of International Gay and Lesbian Youth Organisation issued
during its Annual Conference in Krakow, Poland Nov. 28 - Dec 3.
Krakow, December 1st 2005
We, the LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer) youth of
Europe, are condemning the present political and social situation in
Poland where the freedom of expression regarding sexual orientation,
gender identity and gender expression are being denied to Polish citizens,
We call upon the Polish Government to respect its obligations and duties
towards the rights of Polish citizens,
We remind the Polish Government of its obligations agreed upon in the EU
Charter of Fundamental Rights, including the Right to Assembly,
We appeal to the Polish Government to respect the fundamental human
rights and freedoms essential for the advancement of society.
Young people are the future of every nation, regardless of their sexual
orientation, gender identity and gender expression.
It is the responsibility of every government to respect the fundamental
rights of all citizens. Promoting diversity will assure the equal
treatment of young citizens, which will guarantee the well-being of
society.
