Today the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg delivered its judgement in a case of Baczkowski and Others v. Poland and declared ban on LGBT pride march in Warsaw in 2005 illegal and discriminatory.

Polish gay rights organisation launches its social ad campaign in Warsaw

Once again the Polish authorities demonstrate their homophobia by rejecting application by gay organisations and accusing LGBT activists of 'propaganda of homosexual behavior among young people'.

"Maybe Jaroslaw Kaczinsky and I live in two different countries," says Robert Biedron, president of Campaign Against Homophobia.

A gay tolerance march in the southern Polish city of Krakow has been attacked by a rival demonstration of young nationalists.

Please find below information about the protest organised in London during the Polish prime minister's visit to London plus a brefing and background information on homophobia in Poland by ILGA-Europe.

Following letter has been sent to the President of EU Commission Barroso, President of the European Parliament Fontelles,  EU Commissioners Spidla and Frattini:

On 19 November 2005, another peaceful demonstration in support of equality and tolerance was banned in a Polish city of Poznan. The march was organised by a number of Polish women’s and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights organisations.

There have been angry scenes in the Polish town of Poznan after gay activists tried to stage a demonstration which had been banned by authorities.

Speaking for all members of the Campaign Against Homophobia, we wish to protest against the decision of Ryszard Grobelny, the mayor of the city of Poznań, who issued a ban of the peaceful March of Equality.

Last Friday (Nov. 4th) the Polish Prime Minister announced that the office of Plenipotentiary for Equal Status,  a central administration body responsible for the delivery of basic policies counteracting discrimination, supporting gender equality and offering equal opportunities for marginalized groups will be liquidated.
