Through diversity to a constitutional state and real democracy
Moreover, the policy and communication officer of the Centre, Dana Cotici, spoke to the Congress on behalf of the LGBT community. She came with a message to all young people to get involved in the social and political life of the country regardless of nationality, gender, religious beliefs or sexual orientation. "The democratic youth oriented to European democratic values should not have prejudices and stereotypes. Beneficiaries of our Center do not have these prejudices and stereotypes and possess the constitutional right to associate with any political organization or with any religion they feel closer to", - declared Dana Cotici.
It is important to mention that the representatives of the Congress who are engaged in the study of youth founded their organization on the idea of building a constitutional state. They intend to participate in the creation of a state that should have as a priority the rule of law and where all fundamental rights and freedoms of the citizens will be respected.
Afterwards elections of the organization took place. Oleg Tulea, Member of Parliament and member of the Parliamentary Commission on Human Rights, was reelected as the President of the Democratic Youth. And, for the first time in the history of political parties, a representative of the rights and interests of the LGBT community was elected (Dana Cotici). Thus, the Democratic Party represented by the Democratic Youth wing became the first political organization open to collaboration with our organization and showed an interest in solving the problems, which this discriminated group meets.
The president of the Moldovan Democratic Party, Dumitru Diacov, also participated at the Congress. In his speech he declared that youth efforts to build real democracy in the Republic of Moldova should be part of the national strategy.
