The nationalist extremist Bulgarian National Union sent a letter to the Sofia Mayor Boyko Borisov on Friday (27.06.08) expressing their deep resent of the new location of the gay parade planned to take place in Sofia on Saturday, June 28.
According to the BNU, the Mayor's decision to move the parade from the downtown Vitosha Blvd to the Southern Park was even a worse solution because of the many young children, who visited the park on Saturdays with their parents.
Before Bulgarian private radio station Darik Radio BNU leader Boyan Rasate said that Borisov had not complied with the demands of the majority of the people and of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church and Head Mufti's Office to cancel the parade.
"The Mayor's decision irritates us even more. We cannot bear responsibility about what will happen tomorrow. It will be the fault of Borisov and all those who could legally ban the parade but did not do it", the BNU Secretary Plamen Hristov said.
The nationalist extremists stated once again their demands that the event be cancelled.
