    US-based Funders Directory provides information on potential funders for organisations and projects working with lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) communities. All of the organsations listed have provided financial support to LGBT programmes.     Ministry administer several programmes which might be of interest for LGBT organisations:
    - MATRA Programme - designed to promote social transformation in Central and EasternEurope. It supports existing private initiatives, focusing on activities that contribute to the development of a pluralist and democratic society, securely embedded in the rule of law. Matra seeks also to promote cooperation and interaction between private and public bodies.

  • Norwegian Human Rights Fund
    Provides financial support to projects in low- and middle income countries where the human rights situation is particularly difficult, either in general or for specific groups of the population.

    Runs several grant schemes on human rights, rule of law and minority rights and known to support LGBT projects in Central and Eastern Europe.

  • Sida - Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency:
    Sida works is to improve the standard of living of poor people and, in the long term, to eradicate poverty. They already supported a few projects on LGBT issues and currently work in following countries: Division for Southeast Europe, SEE, is working with the Balkans: Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro, Albania, Macedonia, Kosovo and Croatia and - to a small extent - with Romania and Bulgaria. Division for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, EECA, is working with the countries of the former Soviet Union, i.e. Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Southern Caucasia - mainly Georgia - and Central Asia - mainly Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. This division is also responsible for a small co-operation with Turkey.

    All organisations sharing the goals of the Swedish Helsinki Committee are welcome to apply for funds.
