Lilit is responsible for ILGA-Europe’s projects aiming to strengthen the advocacy capacities and competences of local LGBT organisations in the Western Balkans (Step Up! Project) and Turkey and for the policy work related to the EU Enlargement.

Her tasks include monitoring the accession countries’ partnership agreements implementations, particularly in reference to the adoption of comprehensive anti-discrimination legislations; monitoring the situation of LGBT people in the Western Balkans and Turkey and informing relevant European Institutions about the human rights violations as well as the countries’ non-compliance with their international human rights obligations; submitting regular country information/updates to relevant bodies in the European Commission, the European Parliament and the Council and lobbying for the inclusion of sexual orientation and gender identity discrimination in the country reports; facilitating contacts between EU institutions, International NGOs, experts on international law and national human rights/LGBT organizations.

Lilit holds a degree in Psychology and Education and has completed her MSc in Human Rights at London School of Economics in 2005. She has eight years work experience in field of sexual, reproductive and mental health of which around six years in Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) field projects in Armenia, Kashmir/Pakistan, Zambia and Uganda.

Lilit is Armenian and joined ILGA-Europe in October 2008.
